Job summary

The Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) is seeking a Building Trades Crew Leader to construct, repair, and maintain structural elements of a facility. The role may involve supervising inmates in building trades and ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

The position may require a Commercial Driver's License to operate equipment; education is typically a high school level. Applicants should have five years in a skilled trade, including one year at E9-level in state service.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Constructs, erects, repairs, installs, and maintains doors, walls, drywall, partitions, steps, roofs, windows, furniture, cabinets, screens, scaffolds, concrete forms, and other structural facets of a facility.
• Repairs and installs locking mechanisms, installs wood, ceramic, cement and vinyl floor tile, glass, ceiling tile, and doors.
• Supervises and trains inmates in building trades.
