From conferences and trade shows to community gatherings, festivals, and live entertainment, Mesa Convention Center provides a versatile setting for memorable events and experiences.About the RoleThe Building Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, functional, and event-ready environment at Mesa Convention Center. This hands-on role supports the daily operation of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting, while responding to maintenance requests and troubleshooting facility issues. The Building Technician also plays a key role in supporting event setup and execution, ensuring venue spaces and equipment are operating at peak performance for conferences, concerts, community events, and live entertainment. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused venue environment.WHAT YOU’LL DO (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & OUTCOMES)Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and lighting throughout the venueSupport event operations by ensuring all facility spaces, equipment, and utilities are fully functional and event-readyRespond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely manner, troubleshooting issues and documenting all repairsAssist with setup, breakdown, and operational needs for concerts, games, and special events, including equipment moves and facility adjustmentsMonitor building safety, report hazards, and ensure compliance with facility standards, codes, and preventive maintenance schedules.WHAT YOU BRING (QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE)Education and/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in building maintenance, HVAC, electrical, or related fields preferred1–3 years of hands-on experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or a similar technician role; experience in a venue, arena, or stadium environment is a plusWorking knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems, with the ability to safely use tools and equipmentExperience reading work orders, maintenance logs, and equipment manuals, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsSkills and AbilitiesStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and resolve facility issues quickly and safelyAbility to work independently and in a fast-paced, event-driven environment with shifting prioritiesSolid communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with team members, vendors, and event staffCapability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials as needed, including working at heights or in tight spacesStrong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and fully functional facility.WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVELThis role is based on site in Mesa, AZYou may be required to work a non traditional schedule including nights, weekends, and holidaysAt Legends Global, our people power every success.
