Job summary

Talascend is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician in Knoxville, Tennessee for a contract-to-hire opportunity. Responsibilities include operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems in a commercial setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, EPA 608 certification, and 2–4 years of experience with facility systems. Proficiency with Word/Excel and work order systems is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; EPA 608 certification preferred.
• Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
• Proficient use of computer record-keeping and work order systems.
• Basic proficiency with Word and Excel for reporting and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs of mechanical, plumbing, structural, fire/life safety, and control systems.
• Maintain facility services, preventative maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, and contractor oversight.
• Maintain HVAC systems and equipment through cleaning, inspection, calibration, and part replacement.
• Record readings and adjust equipment for proper operation.
• Adhere to policies for hazardous materials storage, use, and disposal.
• Perform periodic checks of tool and instrument inventory.
• Monitor quality and pricing of external maintenance work.
• Work in indoor and outdoor environments with varying weather and hazards.
• Assist with physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, bending, and standing.
