Job summary

EXP in Chicago is seeking a Structural Design Intern to join the Building Structures team. You will support aviation, transit and mission critical projects, reporting to a Director of Building Structures in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a US-accredited Structural Engineering program, with strong AutoCAD, REVIT, and MS Office skills, and a proactive, deadline-driven mindset. This internship is onsite at the Chicago office with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Studying Structural Engineering from a US accredited university required (Studying towards Master’s degree preferred).
• Good ability at using structural analysis software.
• Experience with existing structures, building modification, and/or restoration a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, is required.
• Proficiency in REVIT, is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite of programs is required.
• Positive team player.
• Self-motivated to meet deadlines
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meets deadlines, and work collaboratively on multiple projects at once.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Design and analysis experience in reinforced concrete, masonry, and steel.

Responsibilities

• Familiar with a wide variety of structural analysis and design software.
• Conduct existing surveys and document the main structural systems and existing connections.
• Perform analysis and design of structural systems for a variety of buildings and materials using building codes.
• Assist in the direction, coordination, planning, and completion of projects with in-house staff as well as other design professionals including Architects and other Engineering disciplines.
