Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties at multiple City facilities and grounds.
• Set up meetings, events, rentals and programs at various City facilities.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop floors; dust and clean offices, restrooms and rooms; strip/wax/polish floors; shampoo carpets.
• Operate equipment and vehicles to transport equipment and supplies.
• Clean sidewalks and remove snow/ice; remove debris from grounds.
• Use tools and electrically powered machines (buffers, Kaivac, auto scrubbers).
• Drive City or personal vehicle to fulfill essential duties.

The City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation department is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Building Service Worker. The ideal candidate:

Hours/Schedule

• Wednesdays 5 pm to 9 pm
• Fridays and Saturdays 9 pm - 2 am
• Sundays 8 pm - 1 am

Position Summary

This position performs custodial duties involving cleaning and routine maintenance at multiple City facilities and adjacent grounds, operating equipment and setting up and cleaning up for meetings and events.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists participants with special events, rentals and programs at a variety of City facilities and parks.
• Sets up meetings, recreational activities, birthday parties and City events scheduled at several City buildings.
• Sweeps, vacuums and mops floors; dust and cleans offices, restrooms, meeting rooms and other work areas; strips, waxes and polishes floors; shampoos carpets.
• Operates City vehicles to transport equipment and supplies to various facilities and events around the City.
• Cleans sidewalks and removes snow and ice; removes debris and other litter from building grounds.
• Operates tools and electrically powered machines (i.e., propane/ electric buffers, Grout Hog, Kaivac and auto scrubbers (walk-behind & ride-on), etc.).
• Drives City and/or personal vehicle to perform essential functions of position.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or G.E.D. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must have First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain within six months of employment. Must complete required NIMS IS-100 and IS-700 training within three months of employment.

Desired: One year of prior job-related experience.

Starting rate of pay is $19.33 to $21.76 per hour dependent on qualifications and directly related experience.
