City of Lenexa, Kansas is seeking a part-time Building Services Worker to perform custodial duties at multiple City facilities, including the Old Town Activity Center, with an evening schedule averaging 19 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must complete required NIMS IS-100 and IS-700 training within three months of employment.
• Starting rate of pay is $19.33 to $21.76 per hour dependent on qualifications and directly related experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists participants with events, rentals and programs at various City facilities and parks.
• Sets up meetings, activities, parties and events at several City buildings.
• Sweeps, vacuums and mops floors; dusts and cleans offices, restrooms and meeting rooms; strips, waxes and polishes floors; shampoos carpets.
• Operates City vehicles to transport equipment and supplies to facilities and events.
• Cleans sidewalks and removes snow and ice; clears debris and litter from grounds.
• Operates tools and powered machines (buffers, cleaners) as required.
• Drives City and/or personal vehicle to perform essential functions of position.

Building Services Worker - 19 Hours - Evenings - Old Town Activity Center

The City of Lenexa Parks and Recreation department is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Building Service Worker. The ideal candidate:

Hours/Schedule (average 19 hours weekly)

• Thursdays and Fridays, 6 pm - 11 pm
• Saturdays and Sundays, 6 pm - 10 pm OR 10 pm - 2 am

Position Summary

This position performs custodial duties involving cleaning and routine maintenance at multiple City facilities and adjacent grounds, operating equipment and setting up and cleaning up for meetings and events.

Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists participants with special events, rentals and programs at a variety of City facilities and parks.
• Sets up meetings, recreational activities, birthday parties and City events scheduled at several City buildings.
• Sweeps, vacuums and mops floors; dust and cleans offices, restrooms, meeting rooms and other work areas; strips, waxes and polishes floors; shampoos carpets.
• Operates City vehicles to transport equipment and supplies to various facilities and events around the City.
• Cleans sidewalks and removes snow and ice; removes debris and other litter from building grounds.
• Operates tools and electrically powered machines (i.e., propane/ electric buffers, Grout Hog, Kaivac and auto scrubbers (walk-behind & ride-on), etc.).
• Drives City and/or personal vehicle to perform essential functions of position.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or G.E.D. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must have First Aid/CPR/AED certification or obtain within six months of employment. Must complete required NIMS IS-100 and IS-700 training within three months of employment.

Desired: One year of prior job-related experience.

Starting rate of pay is $19.33 to $21.76 per hour dependent on qualifications and directly related experience.
