Job summary

The City of McAllen is seeking a Building Inspector to inspect construction for safety and code compliance with applicable codes and approved plans. The role covers enactment of building inspections under general supervision and ensures proper design is followed.

You will review plans, document findings, and authorize continuation of construction when compliant, upholding the City’s standards and regulations.

Job description

Under general supervision, the Building Inspector inspects building construction to ensure safe and proper design and/or compliance with the design and applicable building codes, ordinances and approved plans; to include but not limited to the International Building Code, International Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code, International Gas Code, International Energy Code and National Electrical Code. Employee must be responsible for the approval of all aspects of building construction inspections. Employee authorizes the continuation of actual construction.
