Fairfax County is seeking an Engineering Technician to provide customer service and support for building and site-related plans. The role involves processing applications, ensuring compliance with regulations, and assisting customers through various communication channels. LDS is the steward of the county's land development and building construction codes and regulations. Staff members embrace their essential role as "first preventers" by reviewing, permitting, and inspecting site and building construction to protect health, safety, welfare, and the environment. The department reviews over 30,000 plan submissions, issues nearly 70,000 permits, and conducts over 220,000 inspections annually. Under supervision, provides excellent customer service to applicants, developers, engineers, contractors, and citizens regarding application and plan review status of building and site-related plans and permits. Explains complex construction regulations, ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards, and assists customers through various communication channels. Processes permit applications and responds to inquiries in a timely manner. Performs other duties as needed.
