Job summary

City of Coweta is seeking a Building Official to oversee the interpretation and enforcement of building codes and related city ordinances. The role involves issuing permits, reviewing plans, and conducting inspections to ensure safety and compliance across development projects.

The candidate will work with the public and builders, provide professional guidance, and help establish efficient procedures for building safety operations while supporting boards and departmental needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Possession of or ability to obtain valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
• Possession of ICC Building Official Certification (CBO) and Combination Inspector Licensing.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and enforce building codes and related city codes.
• Issue building and related permits.
• Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance and safety.
• Review plans and apply codes to plan review.
• Develop and implement procedures for building safety and inspections.
• Prepare reports and present to boards as required.
• Meet with the public and builders to provide information and answer questions.
