Job summary

The City of Fredericksburg, Virginia seeks a seasoned Building Official to administer the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and the Virginia Property Maintenance Code under general supervision. You will plan and supervise plan reviews, inspect complex projects, and enforce nuisance and property maintenance rules.

You’ll lead inspectors and clerical staff, coordinate training, and communicate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure code compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Six (6) years’ experience performing building inspections and plan reviews for code compliance purposes.
• Or equivalent education, and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer building and property maintenance codes under supervision.
• Plan, assign and supervise plan reviews and inspections for code compliance.
