Aoka is seeking a Lead Building Official in San Antonio, TX to supervise building inspectors, act as a subject matter expert for the sales team, and enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes on a wide range of projects.

This full-time role offers $90,000–$120,000 annually, comprehensive benefits, paid time off, holidays, and a company vehicle for field visits. ICC Building Official certification and 5–7 years of progressive inspection experience are required.

Qualifications

• ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) required.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in building inspection.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team.
• Conduct client visits as needed for complex or escalated projects.
• Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards.
• Oversee issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports.
• Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners.
• Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments for coordinated code enforcement.
• Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections, permitting, and code compliance.
