William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Part-Time Building Maintenance Worker to join our custodial team. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and the appearance of campus buildings, with shifts Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 8pm–12am and Sat 3pm–7pm.

This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and consistent quality. The successful candidate will follow cleaning protocols, assist with events, report maintenance needs, and help create a welcoming environment

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitizing: perform regular cleaning duties to ensure a clean and safe environment.
• Waste management: empty trash cans and recycling bins, replace bags as needed.
• Restroom maintenance: clean and sanitize restrooms and restock supplies.
• Floor and carpet care: sweep, mop, buff, vacuum, and notify for repairs.
• Surface disinfection: sanitize high-touch surfaces like doorknobs and handrails.
• Set up and breakdown: assist with setup for events and meetings.
• Reporting and documentation: keep records of cleaning activities and supplies.
• Safety compliance: follow safety protocols with chemicals and equipment.
• Team collaboration: work with custodial staff and report issues to supervisors.

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Part Time Building Maintenance Worker at William Paterson University. The building custodian will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of assigned buildings on campus. The schedule will include Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (8pm - 12am) and Sat (3pm - 7pm).

Job Responsibilities:

• Cleaning and Sanitizing: Perform regular cleaning duties to ensure a clean and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This includes sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and disinfecting surfaces such as desks, windows, and common areas.


• Waste Management: Empty all trash cans and recycling bins, safeguarding proper disposal and adherence to recycling guidelines. Replace trash bags as needed.


• Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors. Restock supplies such as toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels.


• Floor and Carpet Care: Maintain the appearance of floors and carpets by sweeping, mopping, buffing, and vacuuming as necessary. Notify supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs.


• Surface Disinfection: Regularly sanitize high touch surfaces such as doorknobs, handrails, light switches, and elevator buttons.


• Set up and Breakdown: Assist with the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and other equipment for events and meetings as needed.


• Reporting and Documentation: Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner. Keep accurate records of cleaning activities and supplies used.


• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor immediately.


• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other custodial staff for consistent and efficient cleaning practices throughout the campus. Communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members regarding work schedules, tasks, and any issues or concerns.


• Customer Service: Provide friendly and helpful customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
