Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department is seeking a part-time custodian to perform facility cleaning and maintenance. The role may require non-traditional hours and on-call availability, including evenings and weekends.
Duties include moving furniture, setting up rooms, and cleaning diverse areas of the facilities. Requirements include a high school level education (or GED) and prior cleaning experience is helpful.
This position is with the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space department.
This is a part-time position, not to exceed 1,039 hours per fiscal year, July 1 through June 30. Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties related to facility cleaning and maintenance.
This position, along with other child care providers, are one of many groups of professionals required to report known or reasonable suspicion of abuse and/or neglect of children in their care and are considered mandated reporters as outlined in Nevada Revised Statutes.
Under general supervision, incumbents at this level are given assignments and objectives that are governed by specifically outlined work methods and a sequence of steps, which are explained in general terms. The responsibility for achieving the work objectives, however, rests with a superior. Immediate supervision is not consistent, but checks are integrated into work processes and/or reviews are frequent enough to ensure compliance with instructions.

Part‑time employees are limited to working no more than 1,039 hours in any fiscal year, July 1 through June 30. Part‑time employees are not eligible to receive paid leave (including pay for not working on holidays), PERS retirement, or medical/dental/vision/life insurance. Nevada does not have a state income tax. Part‑time employees do not contribute to social security; however, they must contribute 7.5% of their gross pay into a FICA Alternative Plan and are also responsible for paying the 1.45% Medicare tax. Part‑time employees are covered under the City’s worker’s compensation program.
