Job summary

Georgetown University in Washington, DC seeks a Building Maintenance Worker to perform general building trades, maintain structures, systems and equipment, and assist with routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs. You will respond to service calls, support building users daily, and follow safety rules while coordinating with the central shop on scheduled maintenance and unscheduled projects.

A high school diploma or GED and relevant training are required, along with a valid DC/MD/VA

Qualifications

  • Two years' experience in general building maintenance with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC basics.
  • Training in general building maintenance including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, lock and basic HVAC maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license from Maryland, Virginia or District of Columbia.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain building structures, systems and equipment; perform routine and semi-skilled preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Provide daily maintenance support; respond to service calls and scheduled inspections.
  • Support building users and coordinate with the central shop for scheduled and unscheduled work.
  • Use standard tools and materials; observe safety rules and regulations.

Services include routine and semi-skilled preventative maintenance and minor repair of building structures, systems (Hvac, plumbing and electrical). Performs semi-skill maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry/trade practices. Provides daily maintenance support to building users through responses to calls for service, scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and similar service. Workers assigned to the central shop perform scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled or special work. Workers use all standard tools, equipment, materials and supplies of the trade and observe all safety rules, regulations and precautions in performing their duties.**Work Interactions**Depending on assigned area of work, this position reports directly to a Zone Manager or a Central Shop Supervisor along with employees of other trades, and trades helpers.**Requirements and Qualifications*** High school diploma or GED required* Requires two years’ experience performing general building maintenance work utilizing electrical, plumbing, carpentry/lock, basic HVAC maintenance skills.* Requires completion of a training program in general building maintenance that includes basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, lock and basic HVAC maintenance* Requires valid and current driver’s license from Maryland, Virginia or District of Columbia.**Work Mode Designation**This position has been designated as On-Campus.
