The City of Tacoma and Tacoma Public Utilities are recruiting to establish a Civil Service list for Building Maintenance Worker. This list will be used to fill vacancies for one year.
A Building Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled building maintenance duties at City facilities, including repairs to doors, locks, furniture, flooring, faucets, and light fixtures; inventory management; installing/disassembling office partitions; and moving furniture and equipment. The role may also involve supervising custodial staff and performing custodial duties.

High school diploma or equivalent, with at least 12 months of building maintenance experience in various settings or two years as a City Custodian.
Additional background checks may be required for positions with the Tacoma Police Department.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work indoors and outdoors, and work various shifts including holidays. May involve working from ladders, scaffolds, or lifts, and exposure to chemicals and fumes.
