Job summary

Meridian Health Services in West Lafayette, Indiana is seeking a full-time Building Maintenance Technician to support Riverbend Hospital and surrounding Meridian properties. The role is Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm with potential on-call rotation for emergent maintenance.

You’ll perform HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry tasks, conduct safety checks, and respond to service requests while ensuring clean, safe facilities for patients, staff and visitors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years general maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry.
  • OSHA 10-hour certification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general upkeep of Meridian properties including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, HVAC systems.
  • Repair and maintain electrical circuits, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, ballasts, breakers, power cords.
  • Repair, install and maintain plumbing fixtures such as lavatories, toilets, dishwashers, water lines.
  • Repair and painting of walls and ceilings as needed.
  • Inspect buildings, including roofs and common areas, regularly.
  • Perform routine and on-call maintenance requests and repairs.
  • Perform grounds maintenance to ensure safety of patients and staff.
  • Conduct safety equipment checks (fire extinguishers, emergency lights, exit lights).
  • Respond to emergencies during on-call shifts; operate appropriate equipment.

We are currently seeking a full-time Building Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of Riverbend Hospital, West Lafayette, Indiana working Monday-Friday 7:00am - 3:30p with potential on call rotation with other maintenance technicians.

Building Maintenance Technician Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain general upkeep of Meridian properties, such as plumbing, electrical, general carpentry repairs, drywall, painting, heating and cooling systems, etc.
  • Repair and maintain simple electrical circuits, switches, outlets, lighting fixtures, ballasts, breakers, power cords, etc.
  • Repair, install and maintain basic plumbing fixtures such as lavatories, toilets, dishwashers, tubs/showers, water lines, etc.
  • Repair and painting of walls.
  • Inspect buildings, including roofs and common areas regularly.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled service requests and/or repairs.
  • Perform routine ground maintenance to include clearing ice and snow, collecting trash on the grounds, landscaping and lawn maintenance, custodial, etc., to assure safety of patients, staff and visitors.
  • Conduct safety equipment checks for all facilities, which includes fire extinguishers, emergency lights, exit lights, alarm systems, company vehicles, etc.
  • Observes safety and security procedures and reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Perform on call in a weekly rotating schedule (24/7) for prompt response to emergent maintenance needs.
  • Physical ability to climb and work from ladders, do heavy lifting, and work in extreme conditions (both hot and cold).
  • Must possess the ability to learn and/or operate relevant technology, such as computer, laptop, tablet and/or smart phone, and operate a variety of office equipment (fax machine, copier, scanner, etc).
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, time sensitive environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Must comply with all Meridian policies and procedures, as well as Meridian’s Corporate Compliance Program as it applies to individual job duties, the department, and the company.
  • Wear appropriate protective equipment when completing tasks that may involve exposure or potential exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
  • Tools, supplies and a company vehicle will be provided in order to complete job responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
We are seeking Building Maintenance Technician candidates with the following qualities:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Combination of education, training and minimum of two years general maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of residential and/or commercial systems components such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry
  • OSHA Certification – 10 hour required.
  • Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC and Mechanical skills. Knowledge of grounds maintenance preferred.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance and a driving record that meets the guidelines and requirements of the organization.
