Position Summary
Serves as the Building Maintenance Supervisor for the Triphahn Center ensuring exceptional facility cleanliness and maintenance. Responsibilities include overall supervision of the maintenance, custodial, and room setup/teardown of the facility. Ensures that all support and service is conducted and fulfilled in a manner consistent with the goals and objectives of the Hoffman Estates Park District. Supervises 2 full-time custodians.
Essential Job Duties
- Supervises facility maintenance staff and provides cleaning services including regular routine cleaning and maintenance, periodic contract services and waste removal. Proactively attends to facility issues to ensure timely resolution of facility concerns.
- Supports and provides an organized system of facility maintenance and repair to track and complete facility repair, maintenance, and cleanliness issues.
- Provides all set-up/tear-down requirements for the use of all general use areas.
- Supervises, trains, schedules, and evaluates full-time staff.
- Knowledge and completion of floor care practices such as buffing and waxing.
- Accomplish job assignments with a high level of attention to detail and minimum amount of supervision.
- Performs all administrative functions related to facility maintenance, to include work schedules, goals and objectives and purchase/requisition documents and invoices. Prepares and provides reports as directed.
- Monitors the buildings and equipment warranty schedules and maintains inventory of tools, equipment and supplies.
- Support Ice Maintenance staff as well as being trained to operate the Zamboni
- Assists in the development and maintenance of the short-term and long-term requirements for repair and maintenance, preventative maintenance, capital replacement and capital requirements.
- Works directly with the HEPD Maintenance team to ensure preventative building maintenance, project coordination and timely repair
- Responds to all emergencies and alarms when on duty or otherwise in an on-call status.
- Ensures that sufficient custodial supplies and materials are always available and specify cleaning supplies needed in order to accomplish work tasks safely and adequately.
- Provides ground maintenance to include sidewalks, curbs and parking lots.
- Maintains MSDS sheets and updates knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Informs the Facilities Manager of problems related to work or change in project plans as prescribed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
An Associate’s Degree in facility management, Trade School or closely related field preferred, but not required; minimum of three (3) years of experience with custodial/maintenance operations in a multi-use facility or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Demonstrated knowledge and skill of leadership and ability to supervise a custodial crew of multi-use facility operations.
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
- A valid Illinois driver’s license is required.
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
- CPR/AED certification or be able to earn within 60 days.
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of safety and accident prevention procedures applicable to facility maintenance operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Applications.

Working Conditions
- Employee is exposed to outside weather conditions 5% of the time, including extreme heat and cold, snow, rain or ice.
- Employee may be exposed to cleaning agents and toner chemicals.
- Employee must be able to lift, push or roll heavy objects without bending or twisting restrictions.
