Pay Schedule II, Grade H20, Regular Schedule: 40 hours per week

A vacancy exists in the Office of Budget and Finance, Division of Property Management.

Under supervision, performs general maintenance and repair to County buildings and equipment.

  1. Operates and maintains stationary building equipment such as HVAC, electrical, security, and fire alarm systems.
  2. Performs roofing, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
  3. Applies paints, stains, or chemical coatings.
  4. Assists skilled trades workers with complex repairs and installations.
  5. Leads and instructs less skilled workers.
  6. Oversees contractual work on County premises.
  7. Prepares records of time and materials used.
  8. Estimates and requisitions materials for repairs.
  9. Completes repairs according to blueprints or drawings.

Additional Duties
  • Operates vehicles to transport workers, tools, and materials.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Licenses and Certifications
Must possess a valid non-commercial, class C Maryland driver’s license at appointment.

Proof of Licenses, Certifications, and Education
Must submit proof of education beyond high school, including diplomas or transcripts showing major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.
Failure to submit proof will disqualify your application. Must attach proof to application.

Examination Procedure
Applicants will be evaluated based on training and experience as detailed in their application and responses to supplemental questions. Clearly state dates and duties of past and current roles for assessment.

Employees hired after July 1, 2022, are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees’ Retirement System, with limited exceptions.


Employees in this role are designated as Emergency/Essential, may need to work overtime with little notice, and could be subject to standby duty for after-hours emergencies on a rotating basis.


Physical and Environmental Conditions
The role involves heavy physical labor, including bending, climbing, lifting, and operating tools. Travel between sites may be required. Exposure to hazards such as weather, raw sewage, and electricity is possible.
Medical Examination and Background Check
Selected candidates must pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background investigation, including criminal, education, and fingerprint checks.
