Job description

Chester County Intermediate Unit | Downingtown, PA 19335

At the present time, a vacancy for a Master Custodian position exists within the Administrative Services department of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. This position is responsible for building and grounds cleaning and maintenance. This includes the replacement of ballasts, lighting fixtures, installation of electrical fixtures, troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues as well as the operation of large outdoor power equipment and the maintenance and repair of these devices. Also included are routine repairs of building and ground equipment, mowing, landscaping, and snow removal, including snowplow operation. Position may be required to fill in at other locations in times of need or in emergencies. This position is anticipated to start in April 2025 and will be based at the Child & Career Development Center in Coatesville, PA.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of institutional cleaning methods and processes; knowledge of trades, ability to implement routine building and infrastructure maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC).
  • Ability to comply with written and/or oral directions
  • Possess valid driver's license
  • General knowledge and understanding of trades, codes, and regulations
  • General knowledge of maintaining primary and secondary electrical systems and equipment
  • Working knowledge of carpentry and plumbing and custodial services methods and procedures
  • Ability to operate a variety of tools common to the maintenance trades
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance as well as some major and minor repairs to facilities systems and equipment
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain building facilities and systems.
  • Change belts, filters, replace ballasts and perform routine HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and recyclable items.
  • Maintain landscape and perform snow removal using large power equipment in addition to manually operate equipment.
  • Take receipt of supplies and other items and store and deliver these items to the appropriate persons or areas.
  • Maintain overall security of building and grounds as required.

Salary: $22.19 to $23.97 (based upon experience)
