Join to apply for the Building Maintenance/Custodian (Dayside) - Child Career Development Center role at Chester County Intermediate Unit.

At present, a vacancy for a Master Custodian position exists within the Administrative Services department of Chester County Intermediate Unit. This position is responsible for building and grounds cleaning and maintenance, including replacing ballasts, lighting fixtures, installing electrical fixtures, troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues, as well as operating large outdoor power equipment and maintaining these devices. Routine repairs of building and ground equipment, mowing, landscaping, and snow removal, including snowplow operation, are also part of the duties. The position may require filling in at other locations during emergencies or need. This position is anticipated to start in April 2025 and will be based at the Child & Career Development Center in Coatesville, PA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of institutional cleaning methods and trades, ability to perform routine building and infrastructure maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
• Ability to follow written and oral directions
• Valid driver’s license
• Understanding of trades, codes, and regulations
• Knowledge of electrical systems and equipment maintenance
• Skills in carpentry, plumbing, and custodial services
• Ability to operate maintenance tools
• Capability to perform routine and some major repairs

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain building facilities and systems
• Change belts, filters, replace ballasts, and perform HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work
• Dispose of trash and recyclables
• Maintain landscape and perform snow removal using power equipment
• Receive, store, and deliver supplies and items
• Ensure security of building and grounds as needed

Salary Range

$22.19 to $23.97 per hour (based on experience)
