Job summary

Evergreen Senior Living is seeking a Building Maintenance professional to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and safety checks across our Michigan communities. You will work to keep residents and staff safe in a well-maintained facility, handling tasks from painting to HVAC checks.

Responsibilities include inspecting systems, responding to requests, coordinating with vendors, and assisting with events. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and dependable service for an aging population.

Qualifications

• Must have basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks including painting, light plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and HVAC system checks.
• Conduct regular inspections of building systems to ensure functionality and safety.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from staff or residents.
• Assist in setup and breakdown of furniture or equipment for facility events or resident needs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment and systems according to schedules.
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance work completed.
• Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations, building codes, and facility standards.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors as necessary for specialized repairs or installations.
• Assist with emergency response efforts during power outages, inclement weather, or urgent repair needs.
• Support the housekeeping or groundskeeping teams as needed to maintain a clean and orderly facility.
• Provide occasional transportation for residents to medical appointments using company vehicles.

Position Summary:

Building Maintenance is responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and to support the overall upkeep, safety, and functionality of our facility. This position is essential in ensuring a well-maintained, welcoming, and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders from staff or residents.
• Assist in the setup and breakdown of furniture or equipment for facility events or resident needs.

• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance work completed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to troubleshoot issues and perform repairs safely and efficiently.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially with elderly residents.
• Reliable, responsible, and committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in general maintenance, or facilities experience; experience in a healthcare or senior living environment is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of building systems and groundskeeping practices.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license required; ability to obtain a chauffeur’s license.
• Must pass background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders as needed.
• Ability to climb and work from ladders up to 15 feet in height.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Frequently required to climb ladders or stairs.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.

Pay:

$17.50 - $20.00 per hour
