Job description

Building Inspector I
Hiring Range: $21.35 - $24.02 hourly
Full Pay Range: $21.35 - $32.02 hourly

Building Inspector II
Hiring Rate: $27.38 - $30.80 hourly
Full Pay Range: $27.38 - $41.07 hourly

Work Schedule: 4-day work week, 7:30am - 5:30pm, or 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday

Position Overview:

Under general supervision of the Building Official, oversees building inspections in residential and commercial fields for code and ordinance compliance and enforcement. Reviews plans for compliance with codes and ordinances, issues permits, and performs on-site inspections for safety and code compliance. Handles inquiries from citizens, builders, and other stakeholders regarding permit and code requirements. May perform inspections for building condemnation, maintains records, and enforces building codes related to life safety. Assists with plan reviews for commercial property systems and prepares inspection reports. Stays updated on relevant codes and policies, responds to inquiries, and performs administrative duties. Must have a High School Diploma or GED, two years of related construction experience (four years at the Building Inspector II level), a valid driver's license, and specific licensing and certifications as detailed in the original description.
