An established industry player is seeking dedicated Building Inspectors to ensure compliance with building codes and city ordinances. This role involves performing inspections, coordinating with contractors and citizens, and providing essential information regarding regulations. Inspects job sites in the city in order to ensure compliance with building codes and city ordinances. Depending on qualifications, this position may be hired as a Building Inspector I, II, or III.
Pay Range:
Building Inspector I: $51,625.60 - $75,795.20
Building Inspector II: $56,888 - $83,574.40
Building Inspector III: $62,732.80 - $91,123.20
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Familiarization with building codes and city ordinances, as well as state and federal regulations. Ability to read and understand technical materials, plans, and specifications. Skill in performing mathematical functions in order to review compliance with established standards. Ability to use testing and measuring equipment. Skill in the use of a variety of office equipment including personal computers & software, fax machine, copier, etc.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
Building Inspector I
High school diploma or equivalent with three to five years' experience in the construction industry or as an inspector. Certified by ICC as a Building Inspector and licensed as a State of Texas Plumbing Inspector. Valid Texas driver's license.
Building Inspector II
Building Inspector I plus eight years' experience in the construction industry, with five of these years as an inspector. Additionally, possess one of the following: Combination Dwelling Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, or Electrical Inspector.
Building Inspector III
Building Inspector I & II qualifications plus ten years' experience as a municipal inspector. Certification by ICC as a Building Official, Building Plan Examiner, Building Inspector, and licensed as a State of Texas Plumbing Inspector.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and transport self to building sites and city facilities. Employee will be exposed to seasonal temperatures inspecting buildings and construction sites.
