The City of Wyandotte is seeking a qualified Building Inspector to join the Department of Engineering and Building.

This position is responsible for plan review and field inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, zoning ordinances, and other applicable regulations. Duties include reviewing construction plans, issuing permits, conducting residential and commercial inspections, processing Certificates of Occupancy, performing rental and upon-sale inspections, and documenting findings using the City’s BS&A system.

The Building Inspector works closely with contractors, homeowners, developers, and City staff to address code compliance issues and provide guidance on building requirements. The role also includes managing public building capital improvement projects and overseeing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) housing rehabilitation projects, including contractor coordination and documentation.

Work is performed under the supervision of the City Engineer and requires the consistent use of technical judgment in interpreting and enforcing codes and ordinances.
