This position involves maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of historic sites and related facilities, performing grounds maintenance, and supporting event setups across multiple locations.

Position Details

• Salary: Starting at $4,246/month, full range up to $5,701/month
• Location: Old State Capitol, Springfield, IL
• Work Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 8:45 AM - 5:15 PM
• Number of Vacancies: 2
• Union Position: Yes

Essential Functions

• Maintain exterior and interior cleanliness and safety of historic sites and facilities
• Perform grounds maintenance, including mowing, planting, and snow removal
• Set up and tear down for events and meetings
• Ensure safe working and visitor experiences

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with janitorial and grounds maintenance equipment
• Knowledge of applying herbicides/pesticides and plant care
• Ability to follow instructions and operate trailers

Conditions of Employment

• Background check and criminal history disclosure
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to obtain pesticide/herbicide license and HAZMAT certification within 6 months
• Ability to withstand outdoor elements and operate maintenance tools
