Job summary

Miami County is seeking a Compliance Officer I to oversee inspections and evaluations of buildings, systems, and wastewater facilities for code compliance. The role includes plan reviews, enforcement actions, and testimony in hearings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred; 3 years' construction experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• ICC B1/E1/M1/P1 Certifications required within two years of employment.
• Kansas Small System Operator Certification required within two years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspections of structural and nonstructural components for code compliance.
• Inspects electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC systems for code compliance.
• Inspects fire protection and alarm systems for code compliance.
• Inspects onsite wastewater systems for code compliance.
• Reviews plans and documents for permits and compliance.
• Investigates complaints related to building code and zoning.
• Operates and maintains wastewater treatment facilities in accordance with permits.
• Assists sewer plant operator with sample collection.
