Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, Inc. is seeking a Building Envelope Division Manager to lead and grow our Building Envelope Consulting and Testing practice in North Carolina.

This role oversees technical oversight, project management, staff leadership, client development, and overall operational performance of the division. The successful candidate will manage inspections, testing programs, and coordination with subcontractors while expanding services to architects, contractors, and owners

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Building Science, or a related field.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in building envelope consulting, inspection, testing, or enclosure commissioning.
• Experience supervising technical staff and managing project teams.
• Experience coordinating and overseeing field performance testing programs and specialty testing subcontractors.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships and contribute to business growth.
• Strong understanding of building enclosure systems and construction practices.
• Working knowledge of ASTM, AAMA, ABAA, ICC, and IBC standards related to building envelope performance.
• Excellent report writing and technical communication skills.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
• Strong client relationship and business development capabilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for building envelope consulting, inspection, and testing projects.
• Project Management: Manage multiple concurrent projects from proposal through project closeout, including scope, budgets, and staffing.
• Testing Program Oversight: Manage building envelope testing programs and coordinate subcontracted testing consultants.
• Leadership and Business Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise division personnel; support client meetings and proposals.
• Financial and Operational Management: Monitor profitability, backlog, revenue targets, and contract risks; support strategic planning.
