Job summary

Walker Consultants is seeking an experienced Building Envelope Consultant to lead investigations, design and evaluation of below-grade waterproofing, facades, fenestration and roofing systems for diverse projects in Irvine and beyond.

You will serve as a primary client contact on both new construction and existing facilities, supervise staff and outside consultants, and collaborate with architects and contractors to deliver durable, code-compliant solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 5+ years of building envelope and waterproofing experience.
• Licensed Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE); Building Envelope certifications (AIA BEC, RCI, or similar) are a plus.
• Strong knowledge of exterior systems and materials (facades, roofing, waterproofing, windows).
• Experience with both new construction and evaluation of existing structures.
• Familiarity with ASTM & AAMA standards and field testing procedures.
• Ability to supervise staff and outside consultants.
• Ability to manage client relationships and pursue future work.
• Collaborative, client-focused mindset with interest in business development.
• Ability to prepare RFQ/RFP responses.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform investigations related to the building envelope and prepare reports with observations and repair recommendations.
• Perform or review condition appraisals and develop repair schemes and cost estimates.
• Assist in peer/office reviews and ensure quality progress of reports and documents.
• Provide construction administration including RFIs, submittals, site visits, and punch lists.
• Meet with architects, contractors, and clients to review investigations and designs.
• Monitor project budget and schedule and address discrepancies.
• Travel as needed and supervise project staff.
