Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for hazards.
• Troubleshoot, evaluate, and propose upgrades to ensure code compliance.
• Order parts and supplies for repairs.
• Monitor and respond to service requests in the work order system.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with clients.

Job Description

The Building Engineer will be responsible for the timely completion of necessary maintenance activities and the management of the maintenance team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on facility equipment and mechanical and building systems, including electrical, HVAC, boilers, pumps, motors, valves and chilled water/heating hot water distribution systems including chillers and cooling towers, filter changes, belt changes, equipment cleaning and equipment painting
• Assist with ancillary building systems necessary to keep systems operating at peak performance with minimal downtime
• Perform routine maintenance tasks including inspection of buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions
• Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend upgrades to ensure building is compliant and up‑to‑code
• Order parts and supplies for maintenance repairs
• Monitor and respond to service requests in work order management system
• Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and maintain positive and professional working relationship with internal and external clients through timely and professional communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough understanding of air conditioning and control systems

• Management/supervisory experienceAbility to read blueprints/CAD drawings
• Prior work experience in a commercial setting.

Physical Requirements

• Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read blueprints and take/verify field measurements.
• Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights.
• Balancing – Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch.
• Stooping – Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist.
• Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
• Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures.
• Frequently exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
