Job summary

Texas Southern University is seeking a Building Engineer HVAC to maintain and repair the campus HVAC system under general supervision. The role involves overseeing air handling units, boilers, chillers, and cooling towers, keeping detailed records, and coordinating with contractors on major projects.

  • Registered AC & Refrigeration Technician License.

Responsibilities

  • Perform services and maintain HVAC equipment including air handling units, chillers, pumps, exhaust fans and boilers.
  • Perform corrective maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting for HVAC systems.
  • Maintain Central Plant (Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers).
  • Review all work orders before and after completion.
  • Interface with contractors to convey and interpret information, standards, and codes.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Description Summary / TWC Summary

Under general supervision participates in skilled maintenance and repair of the HVAC System. Maintains records of parts and materials. Evaluates and trains subordinate personnel, review and maintain employee time records, inspects work in progress, and upon completion.

Essential Duties Summary
  • Perform services and maintain air conditioning, heating and ventilation equipment including air handler units, chillers pumps, exhaust fans and boilers for installation, repair, monitoring, maintenance, and planning of HVAC/refrigeration systems.
  • Performs corrective maintenance, repair, and mechanical; troubleshooting for all air .
  • Maintains Central Plant which consist of Chillers, Boilers, and Cooling Towers.
  • Reviews all work orders before and after completion.
  • Receives oral or written requests and set priorities.
  • Interfaces with contractors to understand, convey and interpret information documents, standards, codes, or best practice and provide quality assurance for larger jobs as owner representatives. Maintain knowledge of required adherence to recognize standards and codes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education

High School diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent education.

Required Licensing / Certification

Registered AC & Refrigeration Technician License
Valid Texas Driver’s License preferred.
