Job summary

Belmont Village Lp in San Diego is seeking a Building Engineer to manage the maintenance operations of a luxury senior living community. This role involves overseeing preventative maintenance, emergency responses, and vendor management while contributing to a safe and high-quality resident experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience strongly preferred in Assisted Living, Senior Living, Hotels or Multi‑Family Housing.
  • Demonstrated successful use of technology in the workplace including MS Office and electronic work order systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee building operations, preventative maintenance, and life safety systems.
  • Manage electronic work order system and complete repairs as needed.
  • Conduct apartment inspections and coordinate make‑ready process.
  • Collaborate with community leadership and regional teams to align with organizational goals.

Join the leadership team at Belmont Village Rancho Santa Fe, a newly constructed luxury senior living community in the San Diego area where exceptional hospitality, modern design, and high operational standards come together to create an outstanding resident experience. Located within the gated community of Lakes of Rancho Santa Fe, our premier Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care community features state‑of‑the‑art building systems, upscale amenities, and purpose‑built spaces designed to support excellence in senior living operations.

As the Building Engineer, you will play a critical role in overseeing building operations, preventative maintenance, life safety systems, HVAC, vendor management, regulatory compliance, and the overall presentation and functionality of our new senior living community. This leadership opportunity is comparable to a Director of Maintenance or Facilities Manager and is ideal for experienced maintenance professionals with backgrounds in luxury senior living, hospitality, hotels, healthcare, commercial facilities, or luxury residential environments who take pride in maintaining high‑quality properties and delivering exceptional service.

Supported by an experienced leadership team, you will help establish operational excellence from the ground up while contributing to a best‑in‑class senior living experience focused on safety, reliability, hospitality, and resident satisfaction.

YOUR TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensures the building maintenance program is well maintained and ensures all company housekeeping standards are met
  • Ensures all life safety code requirements for assisted living and memory care communities are met and maintains documentation to support
  • Manages electronic work order system & completes or delegates repairs as needed
  • Coordinates with outside vendors as needed for maintenance & supplies
  • Conducts apartment inspections and coordinates make‑ready process
  • Responds to after‑hours maintenance related emergency calls
  • Manages Building Engineer Assistant and Housekeepers
  • Collaborate with community leadership, regional teams, and corporate support to align with organizational goals.
  • Lead staffing efforts, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, coaching, employee training, and task delegation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read building blueprints
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in verbal and written English
  • Minimum of 3 years maintenance experience strongly preferred in Assisted Living, Senior Living, Hotels or Multi‑Family Housing
  • Demonstrated successful use of technology in the workplace including MS Office and electronic work order systems like TELS
  • Ability to work flexible schedules in 24 hour operation including weekends as needed
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is essential for all Belmont Village employees to ensure the successful operation of the community
