Building Engineer

Job Description Summary

Responsible to lead, direct and assist with the operation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on commercial buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment for assigned properties/facilities.

Job Description

Valid Driver's License is required for this position.

  • Lead, direct and assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems, including packaging and handling machinery, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop and grounds equipment, and HVAC.
  • Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices.
  • Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems.
  • Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and perform painting on walls, piping, floors, and equipment.
  • Evaluate and recommend upgrades to maintenance operations and identify savings opportunities.
  • Possess competent knowledge of tools and equipment used in facility and ground maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and customer service requests.
  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for safety and functionality, perform preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms and fire pumps.
  • Perform carpentry and snow removal as needed.
  • Comply with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety practices.
  • Use technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and building automation systems.
  • Complete all required safety training annually.
  • Adhere to the company's uniform dress code and maintain a professional appearance.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years of related experience in a commercial property setting.
  • Technical, vocational, or on-the-job training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process controls, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; commercial license may be required.
  • Basic computing skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Work Environment

Primarily in an office environment, using standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

Requires communication, operation of office tools, movement, and physical activity as described.
