Job summary

Elko County School District in Carlin, Nevada is seeking a Building Custodian. Under supervision, you will clean and maintain classrooms, hallways, and common areas to support a safe learning environment.

This full-time position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; custodial experience is preferred. You will operate cleaning equipment, perform routine maintenance, and follow safety standards to keep school facilities in good condition.

Responsibilities

• Clean and shampoo rugs and carpets.
• Clean floors by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing, or scrubbing.
• Dust and polish woodwork, furniture, glass, and fixtures.
• Service soap dispensers, towel boxes, and containers.
• Empty and clean wastebaskets.
• Clean chalkboards and erasers.
• Move and rearrange furniture as needed.
• Strip, seal, and wax floors.
• Remove spots and graffiti from surfaces.
• Wash walls, fixtures, windows, drains, lights.
• Shovel, plow, or sand walks and entrances as needed.
• Operate power sweepers and polishers.
• Perform grounds-keeping tasks to maintain safe grounds.
• Assist other crafts in emergencies.
• Adhere to safety standards.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

SCHEDULE: Full-Time - 261 Days

LOCATION: Carlin, Elko Nevada

Summary: Under immediate supervision, cleans assigned area or facilities of the Elko County School District.

Minimum/Preferred Requirements: High school graduation or other equivalent, (i.e., GED, college, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.).

Preferred: Custodial experience.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

• Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets.
• Cleans floors by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing, or scrubbing.
• Cleans, dusts, and polishes woodwork, furniture, glass, and other items.
• Services soap dispensers, towel boxes, and similar containers.
• Empties and cleans wastepaper baskets and other refuse containers.
• Cleans chalkboards, trays, and erasers.
• Moves and adjusts chairs, desks, tables, supplies, furniture, and equipment.
• Strips, seals, and waxes floors.
• Removes spots and graffiti from floors, walls, woodwork, furniture, carpets, and fixtures.
• Washes and scrubs walls, lavatory fixtures, windows, drinking fountains, drains, lights, light fixtures, and painted surfaces.
• Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
• Operates power sweepers, polishers, and other power equipment.
• Performs such grounds-keeping activities such as grass cutting, tree and lawn trimming, fertilizing, etc. as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
• May be required to move, assemble or disassemble furniture, equipment, or other items, or to assist other crafts in an emergency or as the need arises.
• Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.
• Performs other tasks related to the position as assigned.
