Job summary

Colchester Borough Council is seeking a Registered Building Inspector (RBI Class 2A or above) to carry out core Building Control duties, ensuring safety, quality and compliance of construction work across the city.

You will undertake site inspections and plan assessments, make sound technical judgments, and work with autonomy at your RBI level with support from senior colleagues. A path to higher RBI classes is available under supervision.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in Building Control work including site inspection and plan assessment.
• Clear technical understanding of the Building Regulations and relevant guidance.
• Professional, solution‑focused approach with good communication skills.
• Ability to manage workload while working as part of a team.
• Desire to progress in RBI journey and develop skills.

Salary: Competitive salary with additional Market Forces Supplement.

Contractual hours: 37 per week.

Your Role

As a Registered Building Inspector (RBI Class 2A or above), you will carry out core Building Control duties within your accreditation scope, ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of construction work across the city.
