Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Building Automation Systems Design Engineer to develop innovative HVAC controls solutions for commercial and institutional facilities in the Charlotte, NC area. You will design BAS/DDC systems from concept through construction, working with project managers, programmers, and field technicians to deliver energy‑efficient building automation systems.

• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, DDC controls, and control strategies.
• Familiarity with BAS platforms (e.g., Niagara, Metasys, Desigo, WebCTRL).
• Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and networked control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design BAS/DDC systems for commercial HVAC applications.
• Develop control sequences, point lists, network architecture, and system drawings.
• Engineer control solutions for AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Generate submittals, panel layouts, and project documentation.
• Review mechanical plans and specs to ensure accurate system design.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, and field teams during project execution.
• Support system integrations using BACnet, Modbus, and other open protocols.

Building Automation Systems Design Engineer

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina area

Summary: We’re seeking a Building Automation Systems Design Engineer to develop innovative HVAC controls solutions for commercial and institutional facilities. In this role, you’ll design DDC systems from concept through construction, working closely with project managers, programmers, and field technicians to deliver reliable, energy-efficient building automation systems.

What You’ll Do

• Design Building Automation (BAS/DDC) systems for commercial HVAC applications.
• Develop control sequences, point lists, network architecture, and system drawings.
• Engineer control solutions for AHUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, heat pumps, and central plant equipment.
• Generate submittals, panel layouts, and project documentation.
• Review mechanical plans and specifications to ensure accurate system design.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, and field teams throughout project execution.
• Support system integrations using BACnet, Modbus, and other open protocols.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience designing or engineering commercial Building Automation or HVAC Controls systems.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, DDC controls, and control strategies.
• Experience with one or more BAS platforms including Tridium Niagara, Schneider EcoStruxure, Siemens Desigo, Johnson Controls Metasys, Distech, Delta Controls, Reliable Controls, Honeywell, Alerton, or Automated Logic (WebCTRL).
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and networked control systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Visio or AutoCAD is a plus.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
