Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a technical lead for its enterprise Building Automation System (BAS). You will oversee the BAS lifecycle from design to optimization, collaborating with facilities teams and vendors to deliver reliable HVAC and electrical system performance.

The role requires BAS design/installation/commissioning experience, Tridium/Niagara certification, and bilingual English/Spanish. You will manage projects, budgets, and drive standards while training maintenance staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years of BAS/building systems experience, or an advanced degree.
• Experience with BAS design, installation, commissioning, and training.
• Excellent mechanical system knowledge across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
• Tridium/Niagara BAS Certification.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Experience with BAS hardware (Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Distech).
• Experience with CMMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead BAS lifecycle management across design, installation, service, and optimization.

Job description

Serve as the technical lead for Medtronic’s enterprise Building Automation System (BAS)
Provide expert oversight across the full BAS lifecycle, including engineering, design, installation, service, upgrades, and system optimization
Play a key role in driving major BAS initiatives by leading project milestones, supporting enterprise-wide standardization, and delivering technical solutions that enhance HVAC and electrical system performance
Collaborate with facility teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot complex building system issues, improve operational efficiency, and support the performance of Medtronic’s global facilities
Manage and/or provide oversight on small to moderately sized BAS-related projects or milestones within larger projects, from concept through execution
Manage financial aspects of BAS projects/initiatives including drafting and submitting RFP/bid documents, creating/tracking purchase orders, and capital expenditure requests
Lead continuous improvement of, adherence to, and modifications of Medtronic BAS Standards and SOP’s
Independently set objectives aimed at completing assigned tasks/projects
Perform inspection and testing of pneumatic, electric, electronic, and digital control equipment
Provide training and support to Maintenance/Facility Staff on BAS operations
Participate in long-term BAS strategy and contingency planning
Identify/implement new technology as well as actively monitor/mitigate risks related to equipment end-of-life
Adhere to operational policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Perform additional duties as requested.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience with operation and maintenance of BAS, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems OR advanced degree
• Experience with BAS design, installation, commissioning, and training
• Excellent mechanical system knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems)
• Tridium/Niagara BAS Certification
• Fluent in English and Spanish
• Experience with BAS hardware/systems (Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, and/or Distech)
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• EPA refrigeration “universal certification”
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics
• Self-motivated
• Experience with integrated building solutions including temperature control, critical environment monitoring, power management and alarming, zoned lighting control and facility access control
• Experience with automation protocols including Modbus, BACnet, and LonWorks
• Physical demands as stated in job description.
