Job summary

CBRE is seeking a Building Automation Systems Specialist to optimize performance and energy efficiency for large-scale facilities. You will develop and implement advanced control strategies, diagnose complex issues, and coordinate with engineering teams to sustain reliable operations.

You will mentor technicians, design preventive maintenance plans, and stay ahead of industry innovations to deliver best-in-class service for clients. CBRE offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum five years of hands-on Building Automation Systems experience.
  • Strong knowledge of BAS hardware and control systems (air handling units, boilers, chillers, VAVs, cooling towers, CRAC).
  • Experience with BAS controllers, sensors, actuators, and commissioning tools.
  • Proficiency in programming and configuring BAS controllers and sequencing.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize system performance and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineering/design teams on project planning and implementation.
  • Lead and mentor junior technicians.
  • Develop proactive maintenance plans for reliability and efficiency.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

About the Role

Join ourdynamic team as a Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) Specialist and play akey role in ensuring the seamless performance and energy efficiency ofmechanical systems for a global technology leader. You’ll leverage your expertiseto drive innovative control strategies for medium- to large-scale projects,contributing to operational excellence and sustainability.

What You’ll Do
  • Maximize System Performance: Apply advanced skills to identify, analyze, and resolve complextechnical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and uninterrupted buildingoperations.
  • Collaborate and Advise: Partner closely with engineering and design teams to provide criticalinsights and recommendations during project planning and implementation.
  • Lead and Mentor: Share your knowledge and expertise with junior technicians, fosteringtheir growth and enhancing team capabilities.
  • Develop Proactive MaintenancePlans: Design and execute preventive strategies toidentify potential vulnerabilities, ensuring reliability and systemoptimization.
  • Embrace Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, seamlesslyintegrating innovative solutions to elevate service offerings.
  • Deliver Exceptional ClientService: Build and nurture strong client relationshipsby providing exceptional service, addressing concerns, and offering customizedsolutions that align with unique building automation needs.
  • Document and Educate: Develop clear, concise instruction manuals and deliver end-usertraining to ensure effective system use.
What You’ll Need
  • Demonstrated expertise inprogramming and configuring building automation controllers, sensors,actuators, and associated equipment.
  • Solid understanding of mechanicalsystems including air handlers, boilers, chillers, pressure-dependent andpressure-independent VAVs, cooling towers, and CRAC units.
  • Proficiency in implementingcontrol strategies such as static resets, supply air temperature control, andcentral plant sequencing.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilitiesto resolve complex technical issues and develop effective, long-term solutions.
  • Experience using essentialdiagnostic tools such as voltage meters, manometers, and amp meters.
  • Proven capability to lead underpressure and juggle multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to research and evaluatenew technologies to enhance organizational efficiency.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, withthe ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Exceptional communication andinterpersonal skills.
  • Competence in reading andinterpreting mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft OfficeSuite (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as Google Sheets and Google Docs.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent(GED) required.
  • Minimum of five years of hands‑onexperience with Building Automation Systems and/or trade school training.
  • Strong working knowledge ofbuilding automation and control systems, including Alerton, Automated Logic,and Tridium Niagara. Experience with Siemens Desigo is highly preferred.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Building Automation System Engineer position is $135,000 per year and the maximum salary for the Building Automation System Engineer position is $150,000 per year. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
