Job summary

Divcon Controls in Irving, TX is seeking a Traveling Building Automation Project Manager to oversee installation, commissioning, and handover of multiple construction projects, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with client and technical requirements.

The role requires strong PM skills and technical expertise in building automation systems, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams, review submittals, manage risks, and maintain client relationships while traveling

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in construction project management.
• Strong understanding of BMS, HVAC controls, and automation.
• Technical expertise in electrical systems, commissioning, and risk management.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Strong organizational and project planning skills with attention to detail.
• OSHA 30 certification within the past two years is required.
• If certification is not current or completed, OSHA 30 training must be completed within the first week of employment.
• Proficiency in project management software and documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely completion.
• Oversee installation subcontractors and Controls Technicians during commissioning.
• Maintain ongoing communication with clients to address concerns and manage expectations.
• Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure smooth execution.
• Obtain, organize, and maintain all project contract documents.
• Review and approve engineering submittals and technical drawings before handoff.
• Track and manage change orders, purchase orders, and project expenses to maintain budget adherence.
• Maintain accurate project records, including milestones, billings, SoV, and documentation within DivPro.
• Assign commissioning work and oversee field personnel.
• Review and approve weekly timecards for Controls Technicians.
• Approve and manage the BoM for each project.
• Provide monthly project updates, including billing and financial reporting, to senior management.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel frequently to job sites by car or plane, up to 85%
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout job sites for extended periods
• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and lifts as required
• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in tight or confined spaces
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and materials up to 50 pounds
• Manual dexterity to handle tools, wiring, and small components
• Ability to work at heights and in varying indoor and outdoor conditions
• Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment when required (hard hat, vest, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots)
• Visual keenness to read schematics, labels, and digital displays
• Ability to visually identify and differentiate wires by assigned color
• Ability to hear and respond to alarms, equipment sounds, and verbal instructions
