Job summary

DeBra-Kuempel is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for BAS projects, including new installs, retrofits, and upgrades.

The ideal candidate combines BAS/HVAC knowledge with strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills to support pursuits from initial bid through turnover. On-site work in the Cincinnati area is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Building Automation, or related field.
• 2 years of estimating experience in BAS/HVAC controls or smart buildings.
• Certifications in Niagara, Tridium, Siemens, Johnson Controls, or Honeywell are a plus.
• Experience estimating for healthcare, data centers, higher education, or large portfolios with energy/performance contracting focus.
• Familiarity with LEED/sustainability, FDD, cybersecurity standards for BAS, and remote/cloud-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Review project documents to determine scope and requirements.
• Perform detailed take-offs for BAS components and programming hours.
• Develop BOM, labor estimates, subcontractor quotes, and margins.
• Estimate costs for plan & spec, design-build, and performance contracts.
• Select hardware/software such as Tridium Niagara, Metasys, Desigo CC, BACnet-based systems.
• Support bid lifecycle with proposals, pricing, and VE requests.
• Maintain estimating databases, templates, and cost data; track BAS trends.
