Job summary

DeBra-Kuempel is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for BAS projects, including new installations, retrofits, and upgrades. The role supports business development by fostering relationships with contractors, engineers, developers, and partners, while applying strong BAS/HVAC knowledge and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• 2 years of estimating or related experience in BAS, HVAC controls, DDC, or smart buildings.
• Knowledge of BAS platforms and control sequences.
• Familiarity with standards (BACnet, Modbus) and codes.

Responsibilities

• Review project docs to determine scope and requirements.
• Perform detailed take-offs for BAS components and hours.
• Develop BOM, labor estimates, quotes, and margins.
• Estimate costs for plan & spec, design-build, and performance contracts.
• Select control hardware/software and ensure spec compliance.
• Prepare proposals with pricing and narratives for bid transitions.
• Maintain estimating databases and track industry pricing trends.
