Edison Smart are partnered with a growing MEP Consultancy located in Washington DC who are actively looking to hire a BAS (Building Automation Systems) Design Engineer to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop control system designs, sequences of operation, and BAS specifications for commercial and institutional buildings.
• Collaborate with MEP teams to integrate BAS with HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
• Review and interpret project requirements, client standards, and relevant codes.
• Perform design calculations, equipment selection, and control strategy development.
• Support construction administration by reviewing submittals, conducting site inspections, and addressing RFI responses.
• Stay current with emerging BAS technologies, cybersecurity considerations, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering (or related field).
• 5+ years of BAS design experience within an engineering consultancy or contracting environment.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, DDC controls, and networked building systems.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and commissioning processes.
• Experience with AutoCAD / Visio / Revit
