Electronic Systems Inc. in Sioux Falls, SD, is seeking a Building 2 Production Supervisor (Shift 1) to lead a team on the 6:30 AM–3:30 PM schedule. Some days may start at 6:00 AM and additional hours may be required to meet customer needs.

You will manage eight Production Associates, stay connected on the floor, coach staff, and ensure products meet customer quality and delivery requirements. This hands-on role emphasizes leadership and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in assembly, quality inspection, or related manufacturing
• 3+ years of progressive leadership experience
• Experience leading or directing employees on a production floor
• Knowledge of assembly methods, workmanship standards, and production processes
• Ability to read engineering drawings, specs, and work instructions
• Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead daily activities of approximately eight Production Associates and coordinate work to meet schedules and customer requirements
• Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, provide direction, answer questions, and address workflow interruptions
• Monitor production status, staffing, material availability, and completion dates; adjust priorities as needed
• Conduct daily team meetings to communicate goals, quality expectations, priorities, and changes
• Ensure products are assembled, inspected, tested, documented, packaged, and labeled per specs
• Perform or verify first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections as required
• Identify defects and deviations; stop or contain production when quality could be affected
• Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to investigate problems and implement corrective actions
• Train, coach, and develop associates to ensure proper training and qualification
• Provide timely feedback on quality, productivity, attendance, and teamwork
• Coordinate with Materials to manage priorities, shortages, and schedule risks
• Track production output, defects, and rework to drive improvement
• Lead root-cause analysis, Lean initiatives, and continuous-improvement activities
• Maintain production and quality documentation in NetSuite and other systems
• Promote a safe, organized, accountable, team-focused environment

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As the Building 2 Production Supervisor, you'll lead a dedicated team responsible for manufacturing electronic products for a key ESI customer. You'll be a hands-on leader who stays connected to the production floor, develops your team, keeps work moving, and makes sure every product meets customer expectations for quality and delivery.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the daily activities of approximately eight Production Associates, setting priorities and coordinating work to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
• Maintain a strong presence on the production floor, providing direction, answering questions, and quickly addressing workflow interruptions.
• Monitor production status, staffing, material availability, and completion dates and adjust priorities as conditions change.
• Conduct daily team meetings to communicate production goals, quality expectations, priorities, and changes.
• Ensure products are assembled, inspected, tested, documented, packaged, and labeled according to customer specifications and current work instructions.
• Perform or verify first-piece, in-process, and final quality inspections as required.
• Identify defects and process deviations and take appropriate action to stop or contain production when product quality could be affected.
• Partner with Quality and Engineering to investigate problems, determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure changes are consistently followed.
• Train, coach, and develop associates while ensuring team members are properly trained and qualified for their assigned work.
• Provide timely feedback regarding quality, productivity, attendance, teamwork, and workplace expectations.
• Partner with the Materials Manager and Materials team to coordinate production priorities, material needs, shortages, discrepancies, and schedule risks.
• Track production output, defects, rework, delays, and other performance measures and use that information to drive improvement.
• Lead and participate in root-cause analysis, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous-improvement activities.
• Maintain accurate production and quality documentation in NetSuite and other designated systems.
• Promote a safe, organized, accountable, and team-focused work environment.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 5+ years of assembly, quality inspection, or related manufacturing experience
• 3+ years of progressive leadership experience
• Experience leading, training, or directing employees in a production environment
• Strong knowledge of assembly methods, workmanship standards, quality inspection, and production processes
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, work orders, engineering drawings, specifications, and visual aids
• Ability to identify defects, investigate problems, make sound decisions, and appropriately elevate concerns
• Strong organizational, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to establish priorities and coordinate multiple production activities in a fast-paced environment
• Basic computer skills and experience accurately entering production and quality information into business systems
• Strong attention to detail, follow-through, dependability, and sense of urgency

Even better if you bring:

• Formal supervisory or production-leadership experience
• Significant quality inspection or quality-control experience
• Familiarity with IPC workmanship standards or current IPC certification
• Experience with production resource planning or ERP systems
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Root Cause Analysis, corrective action, or continuous improvement

PHYSICAL & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a hands-on leadership position in a climate-controlled electronics manufacturing environment. The Building 2 Production Supervisor works throughout the production area and regularly interacts with associates and cross-functional support teams.

• Frequent standing and walking throughout the production environment
• Frequent use of hands and fingers to inspect, assemble, and manipulate small components, tools, and materials
• Frequent reaching, grasping, pulling, bending, twisting, and repetitive hand and arm movements
• Routine lifting and carrying of approximately 15-20 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
• Near vision and color differentiation sufficient for detailed inspection and assembly work
• Frequent use of computers, inspection equipment, hand tools, and production equipment
• Exposure to manufacturing equipment, production materials, moderate noise, and electronics manufacturing processes
• Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ESD protection in designated areas
