Job summary

AXIS Capital is seeking an Underwriter - Builder's Risk to grow our Builder's Risk portfolio by underwriting new and renewal business, and by developing broker and customer relationships within the Construction team.

This role can be based in Midwest or West Coast offices and is hybrid, requiring about 25% travel; you will collaborate across the organization to deliver solutions that meet client needs.

Qualifications

• 3–10 years of Builder's Risk, Property, or Commercial Insurance underwriting experience.
• Solid understanding of Builder's Risk coverage, exposure analysis, pricing principles, and marketplace dynamics.
• Able to analyze standard and moderately complex risks and communicate underwriting concepts to audiences of varying experience.
• Capable of handling time constraints for quoting new and renewal business.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal Builder's Risk business within delegated authority and guidelines.
• Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners to support retention and growth.
• Analyze and qualify opportunities based on appetite and communicate underwriting positions.
• Collaborate with customers and brokers to identify insurance needs and propose solutions.
• Support business development through broker interactions and growth opportunities within assigned accounts and territories.
• Manage assigned underwriting responsibilities and contribute to portfolio performance objectives.
• Participate in industry events to build market knowledge and represent AXIS professionally.
• Participate in and help facilitate broker and customer meetings to strengthen relationships.
