Job summary

Lactalis American Group Inc in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Building & Grounds Mechanic to handle maintenance across facilities, including painting, carpentry, masonry, and floor repairs, plus grounds upkeep. You will support GMPs and plant safety programs and work Sundays through Thursdays.

  • Some trade schooling preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Painting of buildings and related equipment as needed.
  • Carpentry abilities.
  • Masonry abilities.
  • Performs small utility maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Snow removal in winter months.
  • Grounds upkeep: trimming, mowing, and debris control.
  • Familiarity with maintenance routines.
  • Follow GMPs and Plant Safety Programs.
  • Floor repairs using epoxy technology.
  • Suggest changes to GMPs and Safety Programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Lactalis products/recipes.
  • Attend departmental meetings and trainings.
  • Perform duties safely and in accordance with safety standards.

From your PASSION to ours:

Building & Grounds Mechanic based in Buffalo, NY.

(Works Sunday - Thursday with Friday and Saturday off)

Summary:

All aspects of building and grounds maintenance, to include but not limited to: pipe insulation, plumbing, painting, industrial floor repairs, wall repairs, demolition and construction of structures (within reasonable limits), building wiring as applicable, grounds upkeep, roof repairs, and other related work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  • Painting of buildings and related equipment as needed.
  • Abilities in carpentry.
  • Abilities in masonry.
  • Performs all small utility jobs as deemed necessary to support proper building maintenance.
  • Remove snow in designated areas in winter months.
  • Summer month’s grounds upkeep: trimming of shrubbery, mowing lawns, and policing of all foreign materials.
  • Knowledge of some of the maintenance routines.
  • Aware of and practice Plant’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Plant Safety Programs.
  • Ability to do floor repairs using modern epoxy technology.
  • Recommends and/or suggests any changes/additions to GMP’s and Plant Safety Programs.
  • Upholds all rules pertaining to confidentiality of information regarding Lactalis products and recipes.
  • Performs other work duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Attend departmental meetings and in-services as required.
  • Performs all duties according to safety standards and as required to ensure the general safety of all other staff.
Requirements
Qualifications:

  • Some trade schooling preferred.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Previous industrial building & grounds preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
