Lactalis American Group in Buffalo, NY is hiring a Production Mechanic. This entry-level role trains in operating dairy production equipment and major utility systems, with mentorship from a Class 3 Mechanic. The program emphasizes the desire to learn and grow within the company.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and pipefitting basics. The ideal candidate has strong HVAC, mechanical and electrical skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; trade school electrical/mechanical training preferred.
• Strong HVAC and mechanical/electrical experience required; dairy experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required; basic math skills also expected.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment in dairy operations.
• Perform daily PMs and routine maintenance on designated equipment.
• Learn rudimentary pipefitting of water, steam, and air lines and assist on major overhauls.
• Maintain machines with attention to bearings, power transmission, lubrication, and use of hand tools.
• Communicate clearly, both written and verbal; report potential issues to the appropriate personnel.

Lactalis USA, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Production Mechanic in Buffalo, New York.

Summary : Responsible for a variety of tasks that requires knowledge and/or ability to learn both production equipment and major utility systems. Will work closely with a Class 3 Mechanic or mentor. This is a training/apprentice level. Ability to progress and desire to learn of high importance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

• PM’s will be done on a daily basis.
• Troubleshoot and repair production equipment in production operations, utilities, buildings & grounds, etc.
• Maintains machines with respect to bearings, assembly, disassembly, power transmission, rigging, and lubrication.
• Effectively completes bench work utilizing common hand tools.
• Learns to do rudimentary pipefitting of water, steam, and air lines with steel, plastic, and copper pipe materials.
• Performs routing preventative maintenance on designated equipment. Will assist upper class mechanic on major overhauls. Learns to identify potential issues and reports these to the necessary persons.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work required.
• Clear communication abilities, written and verbal.
• Knowledge of computer software helpful.
