Job summary

InterContinental Hotels Group is seeking a Food & Beverage Attendant to support buffet service, transport items, monitor supplies, and maintain quality and presentation standards. You will welcome guests, handle requests, manage inventory, and help control costs while upholding sanitation and safety standards in a hotel environment.

Shifts include weekends/evenings/public holidays; basic reading/writing/math skills required, plus ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and math skills and some prior food preparation experience preferred.
• This job requires ability to perform the following: Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds; standing and moving about the kitchen and cafeteria; handling food, objects, products, and utensils; bending, stooping, kneeling; strong communication with guests and supervisors; reading and writing when preparing buffet items from instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or transport all food and beverage items and associated supplies, equipment, and materials to and from buffet areas.
• Monitor area to ensure adequate supplies of food, beverages, trays, plates, utensils, napkins, condiments, etc. and replenish as necessary.
• Follow preparation methods, times, quality and presentation standards; monitor taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, and garnish method.
• Welcome guests and respond to requests in a prompt and professional manner; refer serious matters to management.
• Purchase and/or requisition inventory to ensure adequate stocks of food, beverages, materials, and equipment.
• Monitor and control food and beverage costs and minimize waste; ensure proper storage and security of products and equipment.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work and buffet area; report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• Operate dishwashing machine as needed and place clean dishes in storage location.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• In our hotel, shifts include weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
