Job summary

Big Boy Restaurants is seeking a Buffet/Prep Attendant to keep the buffet area clean and fresh. You will ensure proper temperature, freshness, and rotation of items, and maintain a sanitary environment while following recipes and health guidelines.

Ideal candidates can stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and read recipes. Strong communication with teammates and guests is essential, with a friendly, team-focused attitude.

The main responsibility of a Buffet or Prep Attendant at Big Boy is to make sure the buffet is clean and fresh at all times.

Buffet/Prep Attendant Responsibilities

• Ensures the highest quality of food arrives to each guest by following exact specifications and recipes.
• Ensures freshness, temperature control, quality and rotation of each buffet item at all times.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of menu items, recipes, specifications and procedures to ensure food quality standards are met with every item served.
• Maintains a safe and sanitary environment for proper food storage, preparation and handling, following every health guideline and procedure at all times.
• Properly communicates with co-workers regarding buffet needs and maintenance, and answers all guest questions knowledgably.
• Maintains safety and sanitation standards in the restaurant and keeps the buffet and work area clean and organized.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to uniform standards at all times.

Buffet/Prep Attendant Job Skills

• Able to remain on your feet for long periods of time
• Bending, reaching and climbing stairs
• Ability to work under pressure
• Walking in and out of refrigerated and freezer areas
• Sufficient strength and agility to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Good hearing, visual and English speaking skills
• Ability to read English and follow recipes accurately
• Able to work with a wide variety of foods and ingredients
• Good mobility of fingers, hands, wrists and elbows
• Able to work in a hot environment
• Able to work with steam, hot and cold foods, and ice
• Good memory, math and organizational skills
