Job summary

Prince George’s County Government seeks a Budget Management Analyst 1A in the Management Services Division, located in Capitol Heights, MD. Entry-level trainee professional work includes budget analyses, program evaluation, and preparation of internal reports under guidance.

The role supports operating and capital budgets, with responsibilities spanning data development, expenditure reviews, and compliance with regulations. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business/Public Management, Finance, Economics, Quantitative Analyses, or closely related field.
• An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develops budgetary and program data for assigned Departmental program areas.
• Leads supporting and program staff in the development of program budgets and the preparation of internal reports as requested.
• Prepares and submits program expenditure reports.
• Prepares fiscal analysis of program expenditures.
• Ensures that all program expenditures incurred are in compliance with County, State and Federal regulations for assigned program areas.
• Reviews internal expenditure requests to ensure that funding is adequate.
• Processes expenditure requests in a timely fashion.
• Reviews County reports and documents to determine if expenditures incurred are appropriate.
• Prepares journal entries or other corrective action to correct any unauthorized expenditures.
