City of Tempe is seeking a budget/finance professional to monitor budgets, perform financial analyses, and support annual budgeting in a municipal setting.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related field and at least 1 year of relevant experience. The role offers a comprehensive benefits package and salary range of $76,800 to $113,200 per year.

Monitors and evaluates assigned departments' budgets for compliance with established policies and assists departments in preparing annual budgets and financial statements. Analyzes budget scenarios and provides technical assistance during budget work sessions. Performs a variety of professional, technical and analytical duties including interpretation and evaluation of reports/fiscal studies. Advises on resources and assumptions underlying budget forecasts and prepares comparative analyses of operating programs.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
One (1) year of experience in budget, finance, economics, management analysis, accounting, or related experience.
Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant’s full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics and Research, or relatedfield.
