Job summary

Beaufort County School District is seeking a Budget Analyst to perform budgetary, accounting, and position control functions within the Finance Department. This role ensures accurate budgeting, staffing allocations, funding sources, and compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.

The ideal candidate has an Associate's Degree and at least two years of budgeting or accounting experience, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial software.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's Degree or equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
• At least two years of budgeting or accounting experience; governmental experience preferred.
• Knowledge of governmental accounting rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain, analyze, and reconcile financial and staffing data.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and financial software systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounting calculations and analyze financial data to prepare statements, schedules, ledgers, and reports for district leadership and state agencies.
• Input, review, and reconcile general ledger entries and assigned accounts while identifying discrepancies.
• Audit accounts for compliance with internal controls and regulations.
• Use position control to ensure positions align with budgets and funding sources.
• Monitor staffing levels across schools and departments for alignment with plans and funding.
• Collaborate with HR and administrators to ensure accuracy of budget and staffing data.
